Were you listening AT ALL?

I have to gripe a little about constant inconsistency. I've never really been to the doctor for anything before the pregnancy; I think it's a hassle, takes too long and I'm never really that sick to do so.

But this is the second time I'm wondering if I speak another language when I call (I know I talk fast so this could be so...). Denise mentioned this happening to her so I'm pretty sure that it happens to everyone.

At 6 and a half weeks, there were about 4 days of excruciating pain- like someone was taking a fork and pressing it through my left ovary. I mean bad. So by the 5th day I call the Dr. office and speak to the receptionist:

Me: Hi, My name is blah, blah blah, I'm 6 and a 1/2 weeks pregnant and have an appointment in 2 weeks but
(and I explain everything)

Her: Uh huh.

Me: So do you think I should come in? Do you think it may be something besides "cramps"

Her: So you have your period now?

Me: Um, no. I'm pregnant, remember?

Her: Oh! Wait. I didn't know that. Hold on, I'm sure the Dr. is going to want you to come in.

See?

Luckily it was only a cyst that had "exploded", causing pain, but nothing serious.

Flash forward to yesterday. Two days of the same pain. Again. Should I call, should I bother them? Am I just being nutty? naaaaaahhhh, I take the safe approach and email.

She finally get back to me today (third day of pain). It goes like this:

Her: Hi I am returning your email.

Me: Oh thank you! So, blah, blah, blah (I reiterate the email, which explains everything, again)

Her: Ok, so when does your cycle start?

Me: Um. What?

Her: When is your next period starting, do you know?

Me: I DID say I was pregnant, right? The email said that, right?

Her: Oh! Wait! I had NOOO idea you were pregnant! Let me get the doctor!

Really?

So I guess it's ok but COME ON! Who's running the show at these joints!?!? I worked a front desk- ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

That is all.

checking in...

11 weeks!

119 lbs
Bought a bigger bra! Helllooooo 34B!
and the babes is the size of a "large plum" at 2.5 inches.

Shane says there are only a few more wears left in my Bowie shirt. Don't know if it's because it's about as wispy as a tissue or because my tum will be soon be stretching out the thin white duke's face to unrecognizable proportions. hmmmm.....

around the house

Shane has been nesting like a mad man, which is crazy because I always thought that ladies did that? Whatever- I'll take it! That means i just get to sit back and reap the benefits.... muah ah ah ah ahhhhhhhh

So far since we found out there is a lime (a lime!) in there, we have done the following:

Finished the guest - now baby - room bathroom
Living Room
Half of my office

And started planning:
Kid M's room
Our bathroom
Other half of my office (which is really just wall decor)
And new ideas for storage

On another note, Shane asked me this a.m. if I *really* wanted to know the gender of the baby. Until right then, I would've said yes...now I am really debating because one, Shane doesn't want to and I can't dominate EVERY decision and two, though it would drive me NUTS, I guess it would be kind of fun to wait til the day of.... don't know. Still working it out in my head. Do you think it's a bad/good idea?

And here's Ranger and me stealing Shane's camera to play while he's at work

*side note: I've only gained 2 lbs since last pic so I won't post again for another week or two. must. keep. eating. cake.

BEST DAY!

So all of that complaining and crying yesterday is forgotten!!!!
Sorry for the drama but my hormones are out of control.

Today was much, much better. Here we go from start to naptime:

In between the last two shots I had to give like 2 gallons of blood. NOT pretty. It was bound to happen but I got the toughest, most ruthless and funniest nurse for the draw. She told me she didn't want to see me crying-cause I was- and to toughen up because it gets a lot worse. I don't know whether I hate her or love her but she was a trip. I even got offered a Popsicle at the end cause I was better than she thought I would be. Thanks Corinne, you are one hell of a woman.

9 Weeks...Due October 17.

3.14.2011

Bad day. Got woken up by a hungry cat and dog at 7 am on my day off. Shane corrects my loading of the dishwasher in full parent mode, hair is a mess, waiting for bride to show a sample in a cold Starbucks, reading an antibullying article and trying not to ball my eyes out waiting for said bride, doctor appointment cancelled by dr due to death in the family, reschedule tomorrow and upset our entire days off. It is 10:01 am.

EDIT: (3/25/2011)

I just realized it was the hormones. Sorry Shane.

debating

work.

you know I've always worked a million hours at any one of my million jobs but you know what? I'm getting tired. I wonder if it's the whole "grass is always greener" thing with people who are able to stay at home but right now, today at 5:24 p.m. I really, really think it sounds heavenly. so the debate is: when is enough, enough?

tomorrow it may sound boring but just today! please someone win the lotto for me.

that is all.

calm and steady crumbles the mountain

Don't know what the hell kind of title that is but yesterday can be described as just that. About 3 hours of yesterday.

Last week our Chef said "no one bring lunch Tuesday, I'll be cooking for everyone from the new menu".
Now, no one at work except my boss knows that I have a raspberry (that's how big it is now) so I think the day was rather off for everyone.

So here comes 12:30 when we were supposed to eat...I'm not hungry but hey, I had cereal at 8 so it's about time to feed the egg.

12:45...
1:00....
1:30.....
2:00......
2: FREAKING 15.....

nothing.

I'm panicky. I'm sweating ice cold moisture right above my lip, my brow... I walk to Wendy's office, "ummm. are going to eat soon? I'm a little hungry"

"Oh yeah! I'll call the kitchen as see what the hold up is"

A million minutes pass and she calls to me "they're ready!"

Sweet Jesus thank you lord for all love that is holy! I run into the dining room with the other 15 or so of us waiting to see what this new Chef is whipping up. I can't believe I'm so excited! I've NEVER been excited about food before! YAY FOOD!!!

And then it comes.... 3 burgers. 3 salads. a stack of salad plates and a few knives and forks.

Exit Chef.

Wendy whips her head back to look at me- too late. My eyes are on fire, my blood pressure begins to spike, my lower lip quivers. "Pats, we'll ask the kitchen for food, don't worry, I think this whole thing is just a tasting". Way too late- the tears come gushing.

"I should've just gone to Burger King 2 F@#K*@G hours ago when it was LUNCH TIME like I wanted!"

I'm sobbing like a baby and run into the kitchen and manage my breath just enough to ask Ricky for something to eat, anything, even tuna (I HATE TUNA) just something so that I don't dissolve into thin air.

And 20 minutes later I'm ok; fed and content, getting awkward looks and silent little pats on the back like something in my brain is about to snap and they totally understand.

Sigh.... at least they'll understand when I let them know. If not, I guess I'm ok being the office crazy lady.

I'm probably the biggest hypocrite

Yoga.

For those of you who have never done it or think it's weird, I totally get it.
I came into yoga thinking is was weirdo hippy spiritual crap and wanted nothing to do with it- except I had suuuper tight hamstrings and wouldn't you know- doc said I should try it.

Fast forward to today. I *LOVE* yoga and all things bendy and warm but damn magazines, books and google searches say you can't do hot yoga. It raises your body temp. It's dangerous for the eggy. It makes your head explode.

Here is the hypocritical part: while in AZ, Denise and I discussed hot yoga and preggies. I was 100 percent without a doubt against it. Your head explodes, remember? I was so passionate about it being bad that I think we even got a little heated. Conversation aside, she's the shit. I love her.

Now since there's a human growing in me my militant workouts have all but ceased. I'm strapped into a heart rate monitor "running" 3 hour miles and am constantly taking my temp. Luckily my body temp has always been low and luckily I'm stupid (or awesome) enough to think this works in to my favor in a class. Not a 106 degree + humidity class, but a 95 degree dry heat Vinyasa sounds juuust right.

I'm also lucky enough to have the most amazing, amazing, amazing teachers and buds at Tribalance that have had children and practiced and taught during their pregnancies so I fire off questions like a five year old and dude, they have all the answers and modifications.

So far my temp has not gone over 98.1, my BMP have averaged 110 and no Salabhasana for awhile. Head stands are OK after 4 months but who wants to wobble like a top?
No thanks.

Sorry Denise- YOU WERE RIGHT. I owe you a beer (after you have your babes)

worries part 1

I named this "part 1" because there will be THOUSANDS of worries.
Corey, my yoga teacher and awesome bud says all you have to worry about is loving your baby; everything else is easy.

Agreed but.....remember the stress machine part? So current and past pregs: how do you deal with the following fears:

Losing the baby (there. i said it)
Working out too hard
Not working out enough
Not getting enough of a certain vitamin and how would I know?
Is there a reason I have no morning sickness?
I thought you peed like a million times...um no. Same as always.
Is 140 really max bpm? That's like BREATHING heart rate.
When walking my 80lb son Ranger, how much pulling is too much?
If I really didn't eat fish before (unless it was served fried with fries), can I start now to include more good fats, considering everyone shudders at the thought of fish during pregnancy?

Know that I come to this as a die hard runner, yoga teacher/student and clutzy, clumsy, dog wrestling junk food lover. oy.

weighing in.

When we got this party started I was:

5'6" (you never know, I may shrink)
115 lbs
and rocking a size A bra (I know, I'm awesome)

So here is week 5:

And week 6:

though my weight- and height, thank God - are the same this week, the boobs are definitely getting huge! Ok, maybe not huge but a full A is so rock and roll.

p.s. thanks yoga for the gooooood posture.

starving.

I realize that preggies get hungry. I really do.
Now never being much of an eater - LIE. I only eat junk- I was surprised that one could wake up hungry. In the middle of the night.

This would be fine and dandy if I wanted that third cakeball....but no. It's gross crap like *gasp* fish, squash, raw steak, un-buttered bread. See? all gross.

I also didn't realize that as much as one likes to read (Hemingway, Steinbeck, Garcia-Marquez, Kerouac..) there isn't much you can process that doesn't consist of "Weekly Breakdowns" or pictures that tell you how big the little eggy is at.this.moment.

Why? Am I losing my brain? Dunno, but Having a Baby, Naturally says you can get "pregnancy brain". Me being a scatter brain-stress machine and all, I'm not overly excited about this little gift, but I figure I can use it as an excuse. FOR EVERYTHING!

Which actually brings me back full circle to being hungry.... see?!?! I AM losing my mind!
