For those of you who have never done it or think it's weird, I totally get it.
I came into yoga thinking is was weirdo hippy spiritual crap and wanted nothing to do with it- except I had suuuper tight hamstrings and wouldn't you know- doc said I should try it.
Fast forward to today. I *LOVE* yoga and all things bendy and warm but damn magazines, books and google searches say you can't do hot yoga. It raises your body temp. It's dangerous for the eggy. It makes your head explode.
Here is the hypocritical part: while in AZ, Denise and I discussed hot yoga and preggies. I was 100 percent without a doubt against it. Your head explodes, remember? I was so passionate about it being bad that I think we even got a little heated. Conversation aside, she's the shit. I love her.
Now since there's a human growing in me my militant workouts have all but ceased. I'm strapped into a heart rate monitor "running" 3 hour miles and am constantly taking my temp. Luckily my body temp has always been low and luckily I'm stupid (or awesome) enough to think this works in to my favor in a class. Not a 106 degree + humidity class, but a 95 degree dry heat Vinyasa sounds juuust right.
I'm also lucky enough to have the most amazing, amazing, amazing teachers and buds at Tribalance that have had children and practiced and taught during their pregnancies so I fire off questions like a five year old and dude, they have all the answers and modifications.
So far my temp has not gone over 98.1, my BMP have averaged 110 and no Salabhasana for awhile. Head stands are OK after 4 months but who wants to wobble like a top?
No thanks.
Sorry Denise- YOU WERE RIGHT. I owe you a beer (after you have your babes)
